Fading Inspiration

In the darkness there's a glimmer
I  see it and I know it's mine
But as I reach it starts to shimmer
Fading away like a mirage
In the darkness I long to find it
The perfection I once saw
But still my hands pass through it
Leaving me with drafts and utter frauds

The little light that dances
Somewhere beyond my reach
It, the something that I lust for
The one lesson one can't teach

And as I run forward
It moves back
As hope rises
Despair attacks
Will I ever know what I lack?
Will I ever get my light back?
